Transmedia Showrunners and Digital Characters

Last month the UK’s Portal Entertainment staged the Immersive Writing Lab focused on the writing and development of Storyworlds as the basis for rich multi-platform storyetlling. The lab was a resounding success and spawned a unique Storyworld Writing Competition on Circalit.

For those not able to attend a wide collection of videos from the event have now been made availible as extracts on the IML YouTube page. You can also get the full download videos from Imaginox as an online course for a small fee - money very well spent. Especially if you are planning to enter the Storyworld Writing competition; the prizes for which include a six grand development fund with portal Entertainment and assesment reading and review by BBC Multi-Platform exec Sarah Clay.

In this video Marcus Brown looks at character cretaion in the digital age and delves into 14 characters he has created to give you some pointers for your own work.

On the topic of Digital Showrunners, David Varela explore what the role emans in a Transmedia, multi-platform world.
