ScreenFutures Presentation: Drafting WebTV

The recent ScreenFutures conference in Melbourne brought together an eclectic mix of practitioners, academics, journalists and educators providing my colleague, Karen Pearlman, and I a good opportunity to float some ideas. Our presentation entitled OnScreen Drafts, Development and Episodic WebTV examined alternate development processes outside of the traditional short-film>festival paradigm and focused in on the strengths of the WebSeries as a vehicle for audience-focused and dramatically sustainable screen storytelling.

I recorded the presentation at the ACMI Studio Theatre and have included it here for your listening pleasure as an mp3 podcast. The presentation works through a range of topics; from a starting point of provocative observations, through our proposals for on-screen drafts, prototypes and new technologically driven processes and on to the specifics of the WebSeries and our world-first graduate course in webisodes and webTV.
