Half Life Fan-Fiction brings back the Passion!

Everyone has been raving about the technical proficiency of these two pieces below of Half Life 2 fan-fiction shorts. Similarly the fact that they have been produced on microscopic budgets seriously makes you wonder about the artificial expenditure constructs of ‘real’ movies. The projects also open up rich discussion and debate over copyright, IP and remix culture. Valve wont sue these guys because, just like game mods, fan-generated work does nothing but add to the value of the brand. Cost the Half Life developer nothing and they gain enormously.

But what I really, truly love about these 2 works is that they absolutely reek of PASSION…! Every frame is the delivery of energy, enthusiasm and love for story, character, idea and visuality. The projects might be flawed in the end but they will not be lacking for passion! And fuck me, I reckon the world could do with few more un-jaded filmmakers who love their subjects and just wanna get out there and make stuff - And certainly could do with a few less posturing wankers looking for their inner Auteur.
